Organize According to Your Style

NJ Organizing Expert, Marilyn Shain Labendz, finds an organizing style that works for you!

STOP!

Before you can even discuss how to best organize a particular space, be it kitchen, den, any closet, whatever, you have to stop and think about how you function.

What's your organizing style?

Here are some things to consider:

How do you like to group things?

  • According to size or shape? (Are the milk and juice cartons always together or on different shelves for a quick stash)?

  • According to use? (Are your refrigerator condiments just in the door in any manner, (syrups and pickles together) or do you like to group them according to type, (spicy, sweet), if you have a big enough fridge to offer you that option.

  • According to the alphabet, so you can reach an item quickly? (Like my spices)!

What's your preference in storing items?

  • Do you prefer decorative basket containers of different sizes and colors?

  • Are you more monochromatic in style...preferring uniformity?

  • Do you need clear containers so that you can see what you have?

  • Are plastic storage items, like those at the dollar stores, fine with you?

  • Are you a "DIY" person who likes to repurpose boxes, cans, etc. for storage and make it into an art project?

  • Would you want storage items labeled so everyone can know what's inside?

What kind of a shopper are you?

  • Do you buy what you need for a week or two because you just don't like crowded shelves?

  • Do you stock up on items because they are on sale?

  • Do you shop only for what you need or do you buy things that seem interesting?

  • Do you shop for the storage space you have or go into overflow?

NJ Expert organizer, Marilyn Shain Labendz finds the right option for your style.
